Overview
The food and beverage industry demands the highest standards of cleanliness, traceability, and regulatory compliance. Pearson supports OEMs and processors with a hybrid fulfillment model—providing access to sanitary machining, welding, finishing, and assembly in-house or via certified Canadian partners.
Whether components are fabricated internally or by trusted suppliers, we manage quoting, inspection, and delivery to meet 3-A, FDA, and EHEDG requirements for mixers, valves, conveyors, and packaging systems.

Quick Specs
Workstream | Best For | Speed | Notes |
---|---|---|---|
Prototype Sanitary Parts | Trials, pilots, R&D skids | Fast | Quick-turn machining, weld samples, finish coupons |
Production Weldments | Frames, guards, CIP manifolds | Medium | WPS/PQR continuity, blend/polish to Ra target |
Machined 316L Components | Pump/valve bodies, nozzles | Medium | Ra verification, passivation/electropolish options |
Assembly & Testing | Leak/flow validation, kitting | Medium | Pressure/leak reports, traceability & labeling |
Capabilities We Provide Access To
- CNC machining of 304/316/316L stainless product-contact parts
- Sanitary TIG/MIG welding with ground/blended welds
- Pump, valve, nozzle, and CIP/SIP manifold fabrication
- Conveyor & frame fabrication with polished welds and clean design
- Surface passivation and electropolishing coordination
- Turnkey hygienic assembly, leak/pressure/flow testing, and documentation
DFM & Compliance Guidance
- Avoid crevices: use continuous welds and specify blend requirements at internal corners.
- Call out Ra targets and measurement method (cut-off, location). Identify “contact” vs “non-contact” surfaces.
- Prefer standard sanitary connections (Tri-Clamp/DIN 11851) to reduce lead time and cost.
- Design for drainability: add slopes on product-contact surfaces; avoid horizontal ledges.
- Specify gasket/elastomer type (EPDM, FKM, PTFE) and compliance needs (FDA, 3-A).
- Indicate cleaning protocol (CIP/SIP) and any temperature/chemistry limits.
- For weldments, include WPS/PQR requirements and heat input/HAZ notes where relevant.
Share your drawing/model with finish targets, contact zones, weld symbols, and testing scope. We’ll confirm achievable specs and the best routing (in-house or partner) before kickoff.

Equipment Used In-House or by Our Partners
We leverage both internal capabilities and those of our trusted suppliers to fulfill food-grade fabrication and inspection requirements:
- 5-axis CNC mills and Swiss lathes for complex stainless geometries
- Sanitary TIG/MIG welding cells with purge tooling
- Electropolish and passivation tanks (by routing)
- Leak, flow, and pressure test rigs (hydro/air per spec)
- Hygienic assembly stations with clean handling
- CMMs, optical inspection, and surface profilometers (Ra checks)
Typical Applications
- Agitator shafts, mixer hubs, and impellers
- Pump, valve, and fitting bodies with sanitary connections
- CIP/SIP spray devices, lances, and manifolds
- Conveyor frames, guards, and modular skids
- Fill, seal, capping, and tray handling tooling
- Weigh/dispense fixtures and washdown enclosures
FAQs
Is all fabrication done in-house?
No. We use a hybrid model—some jobs are produced at our Ontario shop, others through certified Canadian sanitary fabrication partners. Pearson manages quoting, coordination, QA, and logistics under one umbrella.
Are welds and finishes food-safe?
Yes. Welds are blended/polished to meet cleanability targets, with passivation/electropolish available. We document Ra and weld finish per your drawing.
Do you provide leak or pressure testing?
Absolutely. We can supply leak/pressure/flow validation reports with serialization and traceability.
What documentation can you include?
Typical packages include MTRs/CoC, weld maps with WPS/PQR, surface-finish verification, and test reports. Start your food & bev quote — include Ra targets, weld/blend notes, and any CIP/SIP constraints.
