Overview

Copper’s superior conductivity and corrosion resistance make it indispensable in electrical, thermal, and decorative applications. Whether your project is fulfilled in-house or through our Canadian partner network, Pearson Manufacturing manages the entire process — from material selection to delivery — with quality assurance at every step.

Copper machining overview

Our Capabilities

Our copper machining capabilities — performed in-house or via certified Canadian suppliers — include:

  • CNC Milling: profiling & contouring of copper blocks, sheets & components
  • Manual Machining: prototype rework, deburring & precision adjustments
  • Turning: connectors, pins, rings & electrical parts with tight concentricity
  • Drilling & Tapping: clean holes & threads in soft material without burring
  • Threading & Boring: specialty threads & tight-fit bores in copper alloys
  • Prototype Development: one-off thermal parts, contact surfaces, bus bar blanks
  • Surface Preparation: chamfering, cleaning & conductivity-safe finishing
  • Installation Prep: parts machined for drop-in fitment to panels & assemblies

Why Copper?

  • Exceptional electrical & thermal conductivity for heat transfer parts
  • Natural corrosion resistance ideal for plumbing & marine environments
  • Excellent machinability when using optimized feeds/speeds & tooling
  • Smooth surface integrity for low-contact resistance applications
  • Recyclable & sustainable material choice for eco-friendly projects

Our Equipment

Equipment listed below is used either at our facility or by our vetted Canadian partners:

  • 3- & 4-axis CNC milling centers with high-speed spindles
  • Manual lathes & turning centers optimized for soft metals
  • Precision drill presses & tapping rigs with low-backlash chucks
  • Boring bars & reaming tools for tight-tolerance bores
  • Surface & centerless grinders for fine finishes
  • Polishing & buffing stations for mirror-like copper surfaces

Supported Copper Grades

  • C110 (ETP) – high conductivity copper for electrical connectors
  • C145 (Tellurium) – excellent machinability for precision features
  • C101 (Oxygen-free) – ultra-pure copper for vacuum & sensitive components

Typical Applications

  • Bus bars, electrical busway & grounding components
  • Heat sinks, thermal transfer plates & mold inserts
  • Plumbing fittings, valves & corrosion-resistant hardware
  • Electronics connectors, contacts & conductive terminals
  • Decorative trim, architectural hardware & musical instrument parts

Copper FAQ

Which copper alloys do you machine?

We support C110 ETP, C145 tellurium, C101 oxygen-free, and custom alloys on request, optimizing tooling for each grade.

How do you handle copper’s gumming tendency?

By using high-rpm spindles, sharp carbide tooling, and effective coolant flow, we prevent built-up edge and gumming.

What tolerances can you hold in copper?

Typical tolerances are ±0.002″ (±0.05 mm) or better on key features, depending on geometry and alloy.

Can you finish copper for plating or coating?

Yes—we deliver surfaces ready for plating or coating, including polishing and lapping to customer specs.

Is this manufactured in-house?

Some copper parts are produced in-house at our Ontario facility, while others are fulfilled through our trusted Canadian manufacturing partners. Pearson coordinates sourcing, QC, and delivery throughout.
