1. Scope & Introduction

This policy applies to all personal data collected via our website (pearsonmfg.com), customer portals, API services, and any offline interactions (e.g. trade shows, support calls). It guides our handling of:

  • Account registrations & profiles
  • Quote requests & order processing
  • File uploads (CAD, STL, & other design files)
  • Usage analytics and marketing communications

2.1 Account & Transaction Data

  • Identity: Name, email address, phone number
  • Company: Organization name, billing & shipping addresses
  • Payment: Card or bank details (via Stripe, PayPal, or other processors)

2.2 Uploaded Files & Project Data

  • Design Files: CAD, STL, STEP, and related metadata
  • Manufacturing Specs: Material selections, dimensions, finish instructions

2.3 Usage & Device Data

  • Access Logs: IP address, browser/OS, pages visited, timestamps
  • Cookies & Tracking: Session cookies, analytics cookies (e.g., Google Analytics), pixels, and local storage

2.4 Communications & Preferences

  • Support & Inquiries: Chat transcripts, email threads, phone logs
  • Marketing Opt-ins: Newsletter subscriptions, promotional preferences

3. How We Use Your Data

We process your information to:

  1. Deliver & improve services (ordering, quoting, dashboard features)
  2. Fulfill orders through our network of vetted manufacturing partners
  3. Communicate order status, support responses, legal notifications
  4. Analyze & optimize workflows, machine-learning insights, and website performance
  5. Comply with legal, tax, and audit obligations

4. Sharing & Disclosure

We never sell your personal data or design files. We may share with:

  • Service Providers (hosting on Supabase, payments via Stripe, email via SendGrid)
  • Manufacturing Partners under strict NDAs to fulfill your quotes/orders
  • Professional Advisors (legal, accounting) on a confidential basis
  • Regulatory Authorities if required by law or to enforce our rights

In any acquisition or merger scenario, your data would transfer only under confidentiality terms.


5. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential cookies to maintain sessions and secure your account (via Supabase Auth), plus optional analytics cookies to:

  • Measure site usage (Google Analytics, Plausible)
  • Personalize content and recommendations
  • Run A/B tests and performance monitoring

You can manage preferences in our cookie banner or your browser settings. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may break core features (login, quote flow).


6. Data Retention & Deletion

  • Active Accounts: Data is retained for the life of your Pearson account.
  • Inactive Accounts: After 12 months of inactivity, we’ll email you to confirm retention; otherwise data is archived for up to 7 years (legal/tax).
  • Deletion Requests: Contact info@pearsonmfg.com to request export, correction, or permanent deletion. We respond within 30 days unless legal holds apply.

7. Security Measures

We implement industry-standard safeguards:

  • Encryption: TLS in transit; AES-256 at rest (Supabase storage, database)
  • Access Controls: Role-based RLS on all customer data
  • Monitoring: Intrusion detection, audit logs, regular vulnerability assessments

In the unlikely event of a breach, we’ll notify affected users and authorities within 72 hours.


8. International Data Transfers

Your data is stored in Canada by default (Google Cloud / Supabase). If we transfer data outside Canada (e.g., EU or U.S. processing), we use Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent safeguards in compliance with GDPR and PIPEDA.


9. Your Privacy Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccuracies
  • Delete or restrict processing
  • Object to marketing communications
  • Withdraw consent at any time

10. Children’s Privacy

Our services are intended for businesses and professionals. We do not knowingly collect data from individuals under 16. If we discover such data, we delete it immediately.
