Overview
Marine and offshore environments demand rugged construction, tight tolerances, and corrosion resistance. Pearson Manufacturing supports these programs with a hybrid fulfillment model — routing work to the best-fit path (in-house or via vetted Canadian partners) while keeping QA, documentation, and communication under one roof.

Quick Specs
Workstream | Best For | Speed | Notes |
---|---|---|---|

Production Outfitting | Series of fittings, brackets, guards | Medium | Repeatable jigs/fixtures; balanced cost/speed |
Heavy/Offshore Builds | Large weldments & structures | Medium | Class documentation + staged inspections |
Spares & Retrofits | Shafts, hubs, wear plates | Fast | Material certs + compatibility checks |
Capabilities We Provide Access To
- Large-diameter shaft turning, taper bores, keyways, journal finishing
- Horizontal/vertical boring for flanges, housings, and valve bodies
- Heavy-gauge plate cutting, rolling, and welded box/pipe fabrications
- Robotic & manual MIG/TIG welding with WPS/PQR coordination
- Precision drilling/tapping, bolt-circle layout, and bushing installs
- Abrasive blasting, marine epoxy/urethane coating, galvanizing (by routing)
- Sub-assembly: bearings, seals, fasteners; torque procedures & alignment
- Hydrostatic pressure tests, NDT (UT/MT/PT), and dimensional inspection
DFM & Coatings Tips
- Choose marine-appropriate alloys (e.g., 5083/5086 Al, 316/duplex SS) and specify corrosion allowance where needed.
- Define galvanic isolation points (non-conductive shims/fasteners) between dissimilar metals to mitigate corrosion.
- Call out masking/grounding for coated surfaces; avoid coating on sealing faces and critical threads.
- Provide weld symbols with expected distortion allowances; use tab/slot or locator features to reduce fixturing time.
- State NDT type and acceptance criteria up front; align with class requirements if applicable.
- Include handling, crating, and preservation requirements for transport in marine environments.
We’ll review your model/drawing, coating system, and class/NDT needs, then confirm achievable specs and the right routing (in-house or partner) before kickoff.

Marine FAQs
Do you support ABS/DNV/LR documentation?
Yes. By routing with qualified partners, we can provide class documentation and traceability packages as specified on your RFQ.
What coatings can you provide for saltwater exposure?
We can coordinate abrasive blast profiles and multi-coat epoxy/urethane systems, galvanizing, passivation, and anodize where suitable. Share your spec system and color requirements.
How large of a weldment or shaft can you handle?
We accommodate long shafts and heavy fabrications through in-house and partner capacity. Provide overall size/weight so we can select the right routing.
Can you reverse engineer legacy spares?
Absolutely. We can measure, scan (by routing), model, and manufacture replacements with material certs and inspection reports.
How should I scope my RFQ?
Include CAD + PDF with weld symbols/GD&T, materials, coating system, NDT requirements, documentation list (e.g., material certs, class docs), sizes/weights, and schedule. Start your marine quote — include materials, coating system, NDT/class docs, sizes/weights, and schedule.
