Overview

Installation planning starts with one controlled equipment baseline and one responsibility map.

Installation is an interface and responsibility problem before it is a physical task. A useful request links the controlled equipment, assembly or component and its governing instructions to the destination structure, foundation or base; access and handling constraints; installed orientation and service clearances; temporary support and placement sequence; mating datums, shafts, couplings, fasteners, anchors and utilities; guarding and control interfaces; owner, contractor and trade boundaries; inspection and commissioning steps; and objective acceptance criteria. Existing, replacement, relocated and retrofit work also needs the declared as-found condition, removal and disposition boundaries, retained items, permissible modifications, surrounding equipment and change-control rules. A drawing, manual, layout or site photograph can describe these inputs, but it does not establish structural adequacy, legal compliance, a safe-work method, an available crew or lifting route, completed alignment, a passed test, or an accepted installation.

The site owner, employer or other controlling party remains responsible for determining applicable engineering, legal, pre-start-review, guarding, hazardous-energy, permit, access, competent-person, trade and lifting-device requirements and for assigning who may authorize, isolate, handle, connect, energize, test and accept the equipment. The quote request should state those decisions, open items, hold points and owner-furnished resources rather than assume them. Alignment, level, fastener, utility, inspection and commissioning requirements also need a named datum, method, measurement state, environmental or operating condition, acceptance and rejection criteria, and requested record fields. These are caller-defined request inputs; they do not imply that Pearson performs a site review, provides field service, approves a safety plan, supplies equipment or personnel, or confirms an installation or commissioning outcome before quote acceptance.

Controlled equipment and destination baseline

Identify the equipment, component or assembly; manufacturer or owner reference; drawing, model and revision; governing installation instructions; configuration, envelope, mass, center of gravity, handling points and orientation; destination location, layout, elevation, surrounding interfaces and service clearances; and the declared existing condition for replacement, relocation or retrofit work.

Handling, placement, alignment, and connection boundaries

Define the access and transport path, floor or structural limits supplied by the owner, lift and placement responsibilities, temporary support or blocking, exclusion zones, foundation, base, soleplate or skid, anchors, grout and shims, placement datums, level and alignment requirements, coupling relationship, fastener method and sequence, and each mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, control or guarding interface.

Safety, commissioning, acceptance, and records

State the site-controlled hazard assessment and work rules, isolation and zero-energy status, permits, pre-start-review applicability and owner disposition, guarding and interlock state, inspection and hold points, pre-start and commissioning sequence, unloaded or loaded test conditions where applicable, acceptance and rejection criteria, deficiency or punch-list process, requested record fields and retention, final preservation and timing.
